Radio Servicing and Repair

How Long Do Two-Way Radios Last?

Two-way radios have been a staple in industries that require instant and efficient communication for nearly a century. However, like any technology, the lifespan of two-way radios can vary depending on several factors.

Product quality and proper care influence two-way radios’ durability and longevity. Generally, higher-priced radios are of better quality and often provide an extended lifetime of service. Tait Communication’s industrial radios are known for their robustness that undergo rigorous durability testing before hitting the market.

Maximizing the Lifespan of Radio Equipment Through Preventative Maintenance

Preventative maintenance of your two-way radios can effectively address potential issues before they arise, ensuring the sustained reliability of your equipment.  Additionally, choosing preventative maintenance is more cost-effective than investing in new equipment.

Unplanned downtime can disrupt workflow, causing valuable time to be spent on improvised solutions and troubleshooting while important communications are missed. Regular maintenance significantly enhances the likelihood of your radio equipment functioning properly for an extended period, resulting in improved communication and increased productivity among your workforce.

Regular Proactive Maintenance

Keep your radio well-maintained by cleaning it regularly, managing the battery properly, and performing firmware updates. Check with your radio manufacturer to see how often batteries should be replaced. Tait Communications, for example, recommends replacing the battery every two years to ensure peak performance.
